Killington Resort

The Alpine Ski World Cup returns to Killington. The women will be the guests for giant slalom and slalom on November 30 & December 01.

Killington Resort, also known as “Beast of the East“, is a premier mountain resort and ski area located in the northeast of the United States in southern Vermont near Killington, Vermont. The resort encompasses six peaks interlaced with an extensive network of trails. 

Moreover, it not only has the largest vertical drop in New England at 3,050 ft, it is also the largest ski area in the eastern United States, served by the most expansive lift network and snowmaking system in Eastern North America. Killington often offers the longest skiing season in this area, usually from October to May, due to its snowmaking system.

Terrain for All Ability Levels

The ski resort offers winter athletes more than 3,000 acres of both groomed and ungroomed trails, which make for 155 trails in total. Even though the main focus is on expert skiing, featuring more than 60 advanced and expert trails, that does not mean intermediates and beginners have to miss out. There is abundant terrain to satisfy all ability levels: 43 beginner trails and 53 trails for intermediates. Hence, there is still enough to do for ski novices. Snowshed Slope and Easy Street are beginner runs. Gentle slopes are Bear Cup and Caper, which are both green runs.

Intermediate Skiing

As mentioned before, about one third of Killington's trails are full of challenges for skiers on the more experienced side. In order to find intermediate slopes, you might want to hop into the K-1 Express Gondola from where you get access to great trails like Juggernaut, making you want to bring your skills to the next level. There are also 6 terrain parks and even a half pipe to explore.

Expert Skiing

The resort takes expert skiing seriously, boasting a huge variety of extremely challenging runs. You can choose whether you'd like to hit wide-open bowls, moguls, or the resort's 16 steep glades. Take the Bear Mountain Quad to find tons of trails that are designated black. Devil's Fiddle and Outer Limits are just two of numerous double diamond runs; these two are also some of the steepest trails at Killington. Real thrill-seekers should head to Killington Peak Inset where you can hit the real deal, such as Escapade, Dipper, and Cascade.

Audi FIS Ski World Cup

After 25 years, the Audi FIS Ski World Cup held at Killington in 2016 was the first world cup alpine race on the East Coast. Killington has been chosen again to host the races on Thanksgiving weekend 2017 and 2018.

Served by the most expansive snowmaking system in Eastern North America, Killington often offers the longest skiing season in this area, which usually spans from October to May or even June.

Killington Resort features 9 restaurants ranging from cafeterias to casual grill and dining options. Located at the Killington Golf Course and Tubing Park, the Clubhouse Bar & Grill offers casual dining and panoramic views. Indulge in appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and hot dishes, as well as a variety of specialty drinks.

The Jerk Jamaican Mountain Grill ist nestled at the bottom of Needle's Eye and definitely one of the most prominent go-to spots for grab-and-go sandwiches, snacks, and drinks, such as draft beer, wine, and cocktails. Enjoy some fresh air and catch some sunrays from its sun deck, where you will also experience great views first-hand.

Outer Limits is just one of several double diamond runs and is also one of the steepest trails at Killington.

The 4,800-foot-long alpine mountain coaster Beast Mountain Coaster twists and turns through the woods. Fat bike rentals, designed for all ability levels, scenic gondola rides to the top of Killington Peak, snowcat-drawn sleigh rides, snowmobile tours, snowshoe tours as well as a tubing park, which is also great for all ages, are also worth checking out.

Spa and Fitness

The Killington Grand Spa is highly recommended for all winter sports enthusiasts who feel like getting some rest. Soak in Vermont's natural beauty nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains, while you enjoy soothing spa treatments, such as massages, facials, nail services, and body treatments. Guests of the more active side may also enjoy the Black Diamond Sports Massage, fitness center, sauna, and steam room.

Although Killington is not exactly known for its great nightlife, the Pickle Barrel Night Club, Wobbly Barn, and On the Rocs are all winners. Enjoy great drinks, bar food, professional and friendly staff.

Preston's and Grand Cafe at the Killington Grand Hotel are just two spots of many guests of the ski resort should head to in order to get their culinary-fix of smoothies, fresh pastries, coffee drinks, and others. Enjoy some of the best views of the mountain, while sitting at Preston's, Killington's latest restaurant addition, which is open for aprés-ski dining, dinner and drinks.

By Bus & Train

From the NYC area, there is a round trip bus service with pick-up locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan. From Boston area there is the New England Snow Bus, a round trip bus service with pick-up locations in Boston, Andover and Rockland. There is also a daily service between New York City and Rutland, Vermont via Amtrak.
