I am not the person who booked the chalet. For the fifth time I was in the French Alps with friends and their children and grandchildren. Previously we have stayed in the Haute-Savoie, this time we decided to stay in the Beaufortain region. We did didn't regret our choice, not al all!! Nice region, a chalet with all the conveniences you can think of. We had a wonderful holiday. I can recommend the Chalet Very Joly to everybody.

A Wonderful Week

11 friends and I visited Chalet Very Joly in March 2017. Although we didn't meet Helen (owner) she was available to contact from the date of booking and very helpful throughout the week of our stay to ensure our holiday was made as perfect as possible. The Chalet itself was immaculate and very clean. As it's self-catered accommodation, we did our major shop at a Carrefour we found on our way, although there was a smaller, well stocked supermarket in Les Saisies just 20 minutes away, plus plenty of independents. The resort of Les Saisies (loads of parking) offers brilliant ski slopes for all levels from beginners to advanced skiers. As a first timer myself, I did prefer the nursery and green slopes at Les Saisies compared to the slightly harsher 'starter' slopes at Les Contamines (less than a 5 minute drive from the Chalet). Having said that, the highest point of Les Contamines offers a great view of Mont Blanc! We hired all our kit, including helmets, from Jean Paul Sports located in Les Contamines. Family run - Jean Paul, his wife and daughter were incredibly helpful, and great on price! We didn't venture out to eat due to the size our party, but there were lots of 'eat-out' options within driving distance, some listed in the guide left by Helen. All in all, we had a wonderful week, either learning how to ski, or for some, perfecting pre-existing skills! To have a warm, beautifully presented Chalet to return to after a hard day's skiing was a delight, and I would certainly recommend Chalet Very Joly (Snowy Pockets Holidays) to anyone wishing to grab a break away with friends or family. Thanks to Helen, Mike and her family for letting us stay.
