The Cross-Country Area
Nordic winter sports in the Dolomites
In the holiday region of Alta Badia in the south of Val Badia, cross-country skiers can explore around 45 kilometres of well-groomed trails. The trails, which are divided into three cross-country skiing areas, are prepared both for the classic style and for skating.
The Alta Badia cross-country skiing centre is located in Sarè/Armentarola, about three kilometres from San Cassiano (St. Kassian). Here, around 26 kilometres of cross-country trails lead through the wintry nature. In addition to a simple practice trail for beginners, there are eight routes of varying degrees of difficulty. All routes run at the foot of the Conturines, Lavarella and Settsass mountain ranges. At the starting point there is a service centre with a ski school, ski rental, sanitary facilities and changing rooms, as well as a bar and a restaurant. If necessary, a stretch of about four kilometres can be artificially snowed.
In addition, cross-country skiers can glide through the snow-covered landscape in Armentara/La Val. The approximately five kilometres of trails run in the direction of Pescosta.
Finally, a cross-country skiing centre has recently been opened in Corvara. The trails of the Corvara cross-country skiing area start at the Corvara ski school and lead across the meadows in the direction of Pescosta. The trails are accessible free of charge, have only slight differences in altitude and are therefore ideally suited for beginners and returning skiers.
