The Cross-Country Area
Slovenia's Bohinj is located in the heart of the Triglav National Park. Those who enjoy cross-country skiing will find the Julian Alps to be a true paradise. It is possible to skate or use classic techniques on over 70 kilometres of trails during suitable weather conditions. The trails are divided between the Lower and Upper Bohinj Valley, Vogel Ski Centre, Soriška planina and Pokjuka.
In addition to free cross-country skiing trails, Bohinj also offers cross-country skiing schools and equipment rentals. Thus, the Bohinj region is equally suitable for newcomers to cross-country skiing. Everyone from beginners to professionals will be able to enjoy the trails, regardless of their experience level. There is also a three-kilometre cross-country skiing trail with floodlights in the Senožeta skiing area.
The Most Beautiful Tracks
The groomed trail in the Upper Bohinj Valley is appropriate for all levels. As it leads along snow-covered meadows, there are no strenuous climbs to contend with. In a picturesque landscape, the trail offers spectacular views of the surrounding villages and peaks. You should plan about one and a half hours for this tour. The start and end point is the church of St. Paul in Bohinjsko jezero. The route leads as a circular path past Studor v Bohinju, on towards Bohinjska Češnjica and back via Srednja vas v Bohinju.
The cross-country ski trails around Lake Bohinj are also worth exploring. In the Vogel ski area, a circular trail is sometimes groomed at the mountain station at 1800 metres above sea level during the winter season.
