The cross-country skiing village of Faistenau
The cross-country area of Faistenau-Hintersee consists of a total of 72 kilometers (45 miles) of trails. Four different trails stretch across the sunny and relatively even region, offering suitable challenges for both beginners and experts. Three of these trails are located in Faistenau, the fourth one can be found near the adjacent lake Hintersee. Parking spaces, changing rooms, showers, bathrooms are already included in the usage fees. Rental services for cross-country skiing equipment as well as local cross-country skiing schools are available to the visitors.
Other winter sports activities
Faistenau-Hintersee offers many other winter sports opportunites besides cross-country skiing. Busses are available free of charge to take visitors to the skiing lifts around the village. The slopes at these lifts are perfect for beginners and children. Tobogganing and snowtubing are activities that are especially popular among children. They can be enjoyed in the center and just outside the village. A hike in snowshoes, a ride in a horse sleigh or the various winter hiking trails are also wonderful alternatives to discover the snowy landscape.

Trails in Faistenau
The trails in Faistenau are groomed both for classic cross-country skiing and skating. The 20 kilometer (12 mile) long Tiefbrunnau trail is well-suited for ambitious beginners as well as for more advanced cross-country skiers. The latter will also want to try the Dorf trail. The five kilometer (3 mile) long trail includes a few difficult uphill parts. The Kugelberg trail is five kilometers long as well but perfect for beginners. The run is also lit every evening until 9 pm.
Trail at lake Hintersee
Lake Hintersee near Faistenau offers a ten kilometer (6 mile) long trail, groomed for classic cross-country skiing. Additionally, a skating trail can be found, which is two kilometers (1.2 miles) long.

Getting Here
Ski busses are available from Salzburg and from Fuschl. You can take these to get directly to Faistenau-Hintersee and they are free of charge.
