The Cross-Country Area
At Lugnet ski stadium in Falun, cross-country skiers have 46km/28.6mi of tracks for classic as well skating style at their disposal. The trails are between 0.7km/0.4mi and 15km/9.3mi long. Stadionslingan (700m/766yd) and Elljusspåret (3.3km/2.1mi) can both be illuminated. Moreover, those two trails as well as the 5km/3.1mi Blå tävlingsbana can be covered with artificial snow. Use of the tracks inside the ski stadium is subject to a fee.
Further cross-country tracks are available between the mine Falun (Gruva) and the lake Stora Vällan, where you can find 16.1km/10mi of classic trails. The 9km/5.6mi around the lake are particularly nice.
Furthermore, you can use more than 60km/37.3mi of trails between Bjursås and Sörskog, around 25km/16mi north-east of Falun. The tracks here are mainly groomed for classic cross-country skiing, but there is a 3.2km/2mi trail that is also suitable for skating, and can even be illuminated. Moreover, Sörskog features tracks that can be used by dog-drawn sleighs.
Altogether, cross-country skiers thus have around 125.9km/78.2mi of tracks at their disposal.

Getting Here
Falun is located around 220km/137mi north-west of Stockholm. From there, follow E18 to Enköping, and then on to Falun via Sala, Avesta and Hedemora. Falun can also be accessed by train.
