The Cross-Country Area
Cross-country skiers can leave their tracks in the snow in Obertraun on the 14-kilometer-long Obertraun cross-country trail. It is ideal for beginners and families, but also for experts. There is also an additional track for skaters on an eight-kilometre stretch . A flat circuit of nine kilometres is followed by a beautiful loop through the likewise flat Koppenwinkel nature reserve.
Along the track there are several entry points with parking facilities. These are located, for example, at the musicians' home (about two minutes' walk from the station), at the tennis court or at the Reith and Brandgasse level crossings. Not far away there are also various inns (for example Höllwirt, Pizzeria skittle alley, Haus am See and Dachsteinhof), which invite you to take a relaxing break.
Not only in Obertraun, but also in nearby Bad Goisern at Lake Hallstatt and Gosau at Dachstein cross-country fans can experience pure cross-country skiing fun.
