A huge cross-country skiing area with 350 kilometres of trails can be found in Sjusjoen in the province of Hedmark. The village is picturesquely situated between several lakes about 20 kilometres east of Lillehammer. The trails are groomed daily and are also connected to the 2500 kilometre network of trails around the olympic city.
Sjusjoen is also home to the famous Birkebeiner trail (54 km), where the world's largest cross-country ski race is held every year. 13,000 professional and amateur skiers take part in the Birkebeiner ski race.
At Sjusjoen Skisenter near Natrudstilen there are several ski lifts and a modern biathlon arena where international competitions take place and many athletes from all over the world train.
