The Ski Resort
All roads lead to Rome - that is the motto of Chinese ski resort Duolemeidi. A whiff of Italian flair, pizza and coffee included, waits for you right in the Middle Kingdom. The goal is to make winter sports more attractive for the Chinese people, and eventually interest them in a ski trip to Italy. With that in mind, the Italian ski association Dolomiti Superski and the cablecar manufacturer Leitner financed this ski resort in the north east of China.
Winter sports enthusiasts can look forwart to 9km/5.6mi of slopes including easy and intermediate runs. The long and wide slopes are particularly suitable for beginners and advanced skiers. The best place to try your first turns is at the base area, where two magic carpeds and a Kids' Park await you. The terrein park near Lemei run and the special snowtubing slopes next to the conveyor guarantee a blast.
The four Leitner lifts promise highest comfort and take winter sportsmen up to the highest point of the ski resort (2,000m/6,562ft). Moreover, the ski resort features the first high speed chair lift with wind-shielding cap in China, which the strong winds in the area make necessary.
At the summit, you can fill up on Chinese or Italian foods at the bistro next to the slope, or simply enjoy the view. You can also find restaurants at the base area as well as a hotel and ski and snowboard rentals. Snow cannons take care of good conditions during the season, which usually goes from late November to early April.
