The Ski Resort

The ski resort Filzmoos is part of the ski association Ski amadé. With its 760 kilometer (472 miles) of skiable terrain it is definitely the biggest ski network in Austria. Decide on a ski pass for longer than 1,5 days and you can ski through the whole terrain without extra charge.
Filzmoos is a family oriented ski resort with 12 (7,45 miles) out of 13 kilometers (8 miles) blue and red trails. Intermediate winter athletes won´t miss out either with about half of the trails being red.

The Papageno cabin lift takes the visitors from the base to the peak of Schnörgialm. Once you´ve reached the top station you´ll find a red trail that descends right into the valley. You could also switch to a blue trail on your way down.

Grab the Grossberg chairlift to get to Kleinbergalm where you have the choice of taking a blue or red run back to the base. Both give you access to FIS Michaela Kirchgasser trail, one of the highlights in the resort. A challenging black run that will even please the most courageous skier and snowboarder.

Most of the easier ski trails are located right around Schwaigalm, serviced by Mooslehen chairlift. Here are two blue runs to choose from, one that brings you back to the base station of Mooslehen chairlift and the second one takes you to the base station of ski tow Schwaigalm in Neuberg.

For all beginners who are still not satisfied: there are three more descend areas in form of shorter blue slopes. Ride ski tow Bögerain or ski tow Retteneg to get there. By skiing the blue run at Kleinbergalm you´ll find the ski tow Halsegg that gives you a ride to an additional blue run.

Activities

The wide choice of non-skiing activities make the ski resort a holiday spot par excellence for winter fans of every age. The wellness and leisure center Filzmoos with heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools is without doubt the perfect source of relaxation. Enjoy sauna, steam room, solarium tubes, remedial massages and play facilities for children after a long day of skiing.

Don´t miss 50 kilometers (31 miles) of well-groomed winter hiking tracks. Almost every trail in the ski area features a panoramic view on the surrounding peaks and takes you through the snowy forests.

If you never did a horse sleigh ride you should actually really book a tour here. One tour takes about 3,5 hours and includes a stay at Unterhofalm or Oberhofalm for 1,5 hours. Plan to be busy for three hours if you decide for a ride to Gsengalm where you stay for one hour and the actual ride takes 2 hours.

Moreover, you shouldn´t miss tobogganing. It´s fun for the entire family to explore the lighted natural toboggan night run in Kleinberg. Rent the toboggans and slide down the 3 kilometer (1,8 miles) long run to feel the thrill of speed. It´s a blast to overcome 350 meters (1148 ft) of height difference.

But be aware, a hangover on the trails isn´t really fun. The ever-changing program including alternating Djs and live bands guarantees there´s always something new going on. An other address you should have on your to-do list: the traditional dance bar ´Kenn ´di´. Of course you must try the Happy Alm where Apres-ski starts as early as 4 pm.
