New slope: Black Wall
Glacier 3000 has the steepest ski run in Switzerland. The new Black Wall has a maximum gradient of 46 degrees (104%), which also makes it one of the three steepest groomed slopes in the world. The Black Wall is reached via a tunnel and allows the descent from the Cabane mid station to the Col du Pillon.
The Ski Resort
The Glacier 3000 ski area near Les Diablerets offers almost 30 kilometres of slopes. Beginners will find easy, blue-marked pistes on the three T-bar lifts on the glacier and on the 4-seater chairlift Glacier-Scex Rouge. More experienced winter sports enthusiasts, on the other hand, can enjoy two of the longest runs in the region: the red run from Scex Rouge to Oldenegg is around eight kilometres long. The black Olden piste (Combe d'Audon) from Oldenhorn to Oldenalp is seven kilometres long and also requires a certain level of skill and fitness. A highlight - but really only suitable for very good skiers - is also the Black Wall with a gradient of 46 degrees.
In addition, there is a large snow park on the glacier. Freeriders will also find great routes here.
To enter the ski area you have two options: the cable car Reusch-Oldenegg or the cable car Col du Pillon-Cabane. The only way back down to the valley is a black run from Oldenegg to Reusch, which is only suitable for experienced skiers. All others should descend with the cable cars. The ski season in the snow-sure glacier ski area usually lasts from November to May.
Interesting facts
- Elevated between 1,300 m and 3,016 m, the Ski Resort is among the 15 highest elevated Ski Resorts in Switzerland. The vertical drop from summit to base is 1,716 m. The average difference in altitude between base and summit of Ski Resorts in Switzerland is 875 m. Most runs are therefore relatively long.
- Average snow depth during the season is 179 cm at summit elevation and 12 cm at base elevation. Snow coverage is usually best during April, offering an average snow depth of 272 cm at summit elevation and 10 cm at the base. Therefore Glacier 3000 is among the 15 ski Resorts with best snow conditions in Switzerland.
- Glacier 3000 features 7 sunny days on average per season. The average for all ski Resorts in Switzerland is 63 sunny days. November is the sunniest month with an average of 2 sunny days.
On Mountain Dining
In the ski area you have several mountain restaurants and huts to choose from. You can enjoy a beautiful view of the Val Derborence in the Valais and the Bernese Alps in the Refuge l'Espace at the Quille du Diable. Only regional delicacies are served here.
At the Scex Rouge mountain station you will find the Restaurant Botta. This consists of a restaurant on the 4th floor, a self-service restaurant on the 3rd floor and a terrace on the 2nd floor. There you have a great view of the glacier.
For refreshment after the strenuous descent on the Combe d'Audon, head to Zeller's Skibar on the Oldenalp
You can also stop off in the valley. At the Col du Pillon you will find the restaurant of the same name with a view of the Dar waterfall and the north face of the Scex Rouge. Regional specialities are served here.
If you fancy après-ski at the end of the ski day, the Rooster Bar at the Reusch base station is the place to be. But it is also known for its Fondue au Trois. The bar is only open when the Reusch cable car is in operation.

Activities
A visit to the Glacier 3000 ski area is also worthwhile for non-skiers. At the summit of the Scex Rouge, for example, you will find the Peak Walk by Tissot. The 107-meter-long and 80-centimeter-wide suspension bridge offers an impressive view of numerous Alpine peaks such as the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau at lofty heights. The bridge is accessible free of charge.
The Glacier Walk, a leisurely hike to the Refuge l'Espace restaurant at the Quille du Diable, also starts at the Scex Rouge mountain station.
The Alpine Coaster is only open from May to September. From April to October, there is also a cross-country ski trail of around 7 kilometres on the glacier, which can be used for classic skiing and skating
