Après-Ski against a backdrop of Nevada-style casinos!
It may not compare to the flair found at Europe’s renowned après-ski meccas, but the location of this resort in South Lake Tahoe right smack on the border between California and Nevada makes it a must-ski for night owls and die-hard casino fans. The gambling laws in Nevada are relatively lax (Las Vegas is Nevada’s largest city). And thanks to the border between it and California running through the city of Lake Tahoe, the result of the differences in gambling laws is visible to the naked eye; the California side of the city is populated by small, cozy log-cabin-style restaurants, while six large, flashy casinos (Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, Harvey’s Lake Tahoe, Lakeside Inn & Casino, Montbleu and Horizon Casino Resort) attract night owls to the Nevada side. In the ski area itself you’ll find 10 different restaurants and snack bars to choose from – most of them serving the usual American fare of steak and burger specialties. Our tip: Lakeview Lodge at the upper terminal of the Aerial Tramway has the best view of the breathtaking Lake Tahoe.
