The Ski Resort
The Chinese ski resort Lake Songhua Resort is located in the north east of the country, and only 15km/9.3mi from Jilin City. Winter sportsmen find 31km/mi of slopes, 1 gondola, 5 chairs, and 7 magic carpets. The ski resort is situated at the north face of Daqing mountain between 330m/1,083ft and 900m/2,953ft above sea level. The longest of 34 runs is called Romantic Avenue, and features a lovely view of the surrounding landscape and lake Songhua.
The ski resort is divided into the three areas Family Zone, Racing Zone, and Challenge Zone. Family Zone is located around chair lift B, near the base area, and is particularly suited to beginners and less experienced skiers. Families with children will also enjoy Family Park at chair lift F. The young ones find plenty of fun and games to try their first turns on skis. Beginners also find seven magic carpets in the base area.
Racing Zone is located next to chair lift F. As the name suggests, skiers and snowboarders can look forwart to a lot of action here. Black runs, speed runs, and mogul runs make sure experienced skiers get their money's worth. Chair lift G and gondola A get you to the highest point of the resort. From the viewing platform or the peak restaurant you can enjoy the view of the surrounding mountain-scape. You can choose from valley runs of all difficulty levels to go back down.
Lastly, Challenge Zone can be accessed on chair C. This area features two terrain parks, one for beginners (at the base station), and one for more experienced freestylers (at chair D). The runs at Challenge Zone are perfect for experienced skiers.

- The vertical drop from summit to base is 570 m. The average difference in altitude between base and summit of Ski Resorts in China is 447 m. The ski resort takes you to an elevation of 900 m.

Getting here
Lake Songhua Resort is located north of Jilin City. From the city centre, you can get there by car or taxi within around 30 minutes. Follow the roads Songjian W and S along Songhua River, then follow X030 Country Road and Guangyuan Road to Quinghanzi, where the ski resort is located. The closest airport is in Changchun.
