The Ski Resort
The skiing area in Maurach at Lake Achensee offers you 11 km of pistes of the mainly medium difficulty category. The Rofan cable car takes you to the starting point of slopes 1, 2 and 3, while the blue marked slope 3 leads to the 2-seater chair lift Rofan. The red slopes 1 and 1a as well as the black slope 2 lead to the Mauritz chair lift. There you can either take the lift back up to the top station or take the downhill run 4 to the cable car. At Wasserboden not far from the top station there is a children's area and two practice lifts for beginners.
In the region around Lake Achensee you will find five smaller ski areas with a total of 53 km of slopes. In addition to the Rofan chair lift in Maurach, the Christlum ski resort in Achenkirch, the Karwendelbahn in Pertisau and the lifts in Steinberg and Wiesing are also part of the region.

- The vertical drop from summit to base is 860 m. The average difference in altitude between base and summit of Ski Resorts in Austria is 719 m. The ski resort takes you to an elevation of 1,840 m.
- Average snow depth during the season is 82 cm at summit elevation and 21 cm at base elevation. Snow coverage is usually best during February, offering an average snow depth of 96 cm at summit elevation and 27 cm at the base.
- Maurach at Lake Achensee - Rofan features 41 sunny days on average per season. The average for all ski Resorts in Austria is 39 sunny days. February is the sunniest month with an average of 16 sunny days. This makes the ski resort one of the 10 sunniest in Tyrol.

Directly next to the top station of the Rofan cable car is the rustic Almstüberl. With a view into the Rofan mountains you can enjoy homemade cakes and strudel. At the Mauritzköpfle, the cosy "Erfurter Hütte" invites you to take a break. On the sun terrace of the Bergasthof Rofan you can enjoy not only delicious dishes from the Tyrolean kitchen but also a wonderful view of Lake Achensee.

In addition to classic snow fun such as skiing, winter hiking or tobogganing is also on the programme in Maurach. The Airrofan Skyglider promises a special experience. With a speed of 80 km/h it goes from the 2,040 m high Gschöllkopf down into the depths.

Coming from Munich, take the A8 to Holzkirchen and then take the B318 towards Tegernsee. From Rottach-Egern you continue on the B307 via Wildbad Kreuth to the border. In Austria you drive on the B181 via Achental to Lake Achensee. Along the lake you come to Maurach. The valley station of the cable car is directly on the main road. There are two parking spaces on site.
