The Ski Resort
The Predigtstuhl ski area is located in Markbuchen/Sankt Englmar in the Bavarian Forest and lies at an altitude of 850 to 1,024 metres. This area was already opened up for winter sports in 1971. The best known trademark of the Predigtstuhl is the 700-metre-long Herzerl lift, which was the first ski lift at the Predigtstuhl to go into operation in 1963. Its name is derived from the heart-shaped tongs, which to this day only ever stamp out half a point from the lift ticket. The two Pistenbullys as well as a snowmaking system guarantee the best skiing pleasure every day. In addition, from the top of the Predigtstuhl you have a unique view over the Bavarian Forest. The slopes at the Predigtstuhl are marked blue only. Therefore, this is a pure beginner and family ski area. Advanced skiers are better off at the Pröller ski area in St. Englmar, because there are blue marked slopes as well as red and black marked slopes.
From Tuesday to Saturday there is the possibility for night skiing at the Predigtstuhl. If you want to continue to pursue your favourite sport after dark, you can do so during the floodlight hours from 7 to 10 pm.
Snowboarders and freestylers can let off steam in the fun park. It is the only snowpark in the whole Bavarian Forest that is floodlit during the whole week. All obstacles are illuminated at night, so that even freestylers can practice the latest moves and tricks after work. The various park elements include several boxes and rails as well as various jib obstacles and, depending on the snow conditions, two to three kickers.

Activities
The holiday region Sankt Englmar offers over 50 km of cleared winter hiking trails through the snow-covered landscape of the Bavarian Forest. For those who want to explore the village in a relaxed manner, a walk on the 1.5 km long Kapellenberg-Rundweg is worthwhile. Snowshoe tours are also very popular in the region.
For big and small adrenalin junkies the longest toboggan lift in the whole of Eastern Bavaria is waiting at the Kurpark. Once you reach the top, the tobogganing slope descends rapidly. The slope is illuminated in the evening. A snowmaking system ensures untroubled sledging fun even when the snow conditions are not so good.
A ride on cross-country skis is also possible in the Sankt Englmar region.
