The Ski Resort
Northeast of the lake Achensee, approx. 10 km away from Achenkirch lies Steinberg am Rofan. Here you will find a small ski area with two t-bar lifts and a rope lift. The easy descents are particularly suitable for families and beginners. Advanced winter sports enthusiasts have the opportunity to prove their skills on the training course.
For those who are not satisfied with the 1,000 m of slopes, there are four more ski areas around the Achensee: the Karwendel mountain railway in Pertisau, the Christlum lifts in Achenkirch, the Rofanseilbahn Maurach and the lifts in Wiesing. In total, the Achensee ski region boasts 54 km of slopes.
Interesting facts
- The vertical drop from summit to base is 200 m. The average difference in altitude between base and summit of Ski Resorts in Austria is 719 m. Runs and slopes are therefore relatively short. The high point of the ski resort is located at an elevation of 1,250 m.
- The day pass at Rofanlifte Steinberg is €31 making it one of the 10 cheapest ski Resorts in Tyrol.
- Average snow depth during the season is 83 cm at summit elevation and 34 cm at base elevation. Snow coverage is usually best during February, offering an average snow depth of 87 cm at summit elevation and 35 cm at the base.
- Rofanlifte Steinberg features 27 sunny days on average per season. The average for all ski Resorts in Austria is 28 sunny days. January is the sunniest month with an average of 12 sunny days.

Activities
In Steinberg am Rofan, cross-country skiers can expect a 52 km large network of cross country ski trails. It is part of the cross-country region Achensee, which with more than 200 track kilometres is one of the most important cross-country centres in Tyrol.
Night tobogganing takes place every Wednesday at the Christlum Alm in Achenkirch. From 19.30 to 21.00 the 3,5 km long toboggan run will be illuminated.

Getting here
If you start in Munich, take the A8 to Holzkirchen. Then take the B318 to Tegernsee and continue on the B307 to Austria. There it goes on the B181 up to Achental, where you turn left and reach via Leiten to Steinberg am Rofan. Parking is available at the Rofanlifts I and II.
