The Ski Resort
Saariselkä Ski Resort is located in the Finnish part of Lapland. It features 15 runs of all difficulty levels. If you are lucky, you might even see the impressive northern lights on a ski day here.
The runs are scattered on the two mountains Kaunispää and Isakkipää, and are open from November to May. 15 of the 23 runs can also be illuminated at night. Six lifts, including a chair lift, get winter sportsmen up the mountain. The longest run is 2,000 metres toboggan run (piste 3). Furthermore, the challenging run 9 is certified for FIS races.
Apart from a bistro and a ski rental, there are also two freestyle parks (KaamosPark and IisakkiPark), two ski cross tracks and three toboggan runs.

On Mountain Dining
At the Pilkku sports bistro next to the chairlift you can enjoy a delicious regional lunch. They also serve hamburgers, snacks and sweets.
Nightskiing
Evening skiing is offered on selected dates between January and April, every Friday and Saturday from 5 to 7 pm. 15 of the 23 slopes in the ski area can be lit.

Activities
Tobogganers may let off steam on piste 3 with junctions 1 and 2. They have a combined length of 4100 metres. If you're lucky, you'll see the Northern Lights there.
Besides tobogganing and skiing, you can also try fatbiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in Saariselkä.

The Saariselkä Ski School offers courses in skiing, snowboarding, telemark and cross-country skiing. There are extra courses for toddlers (2-3 years), children ( 4-6 years), teenagers and adults. There are also guided snowshoe hikes in the Finnish forests.

Getting here
Saariselkä is the northernmost ski resort in Europe and is located in the north of Finland. The best way to get to Saariselkä is to fly from Helsinki to Ivalo. From there, shuttle buses run to the resort.
You can also take a bus from Rovaniemi railway station to Saarisekä.
By car, you can reach the ski resort via National Road Four (E75). If you are travelling from the east of Finland, take the motorway at Oulu, Rpvaniemi or Sodankylä towards National Roads Five and Six.
