The Ski Resort
The practice lift in Wehrhalden is particularly suitable for families and beginners. For snowboarders and skiers, there are 0.4 kilometres of slopes marked in blue. The ski area is between 950 and 990 metres above sea level and is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is also a 300-metre-long toboggan run right next to the drag lift.
Not far from Wehrladen, the Herrischried ski area invites you to ski under floodlights.
Interesting facts
- The vertical drop from summit to base is 40 m. The average difference in altitude between base and summit of Ski Resorts in Germany is 214 m. Runs and slopes are therefore relatively short. The high point of the ski resort is located at an elevation of 990 m.
- Snow coverage is usually best during January, offering an average snow depth of 52 cm at summit elevation and 20 cm at the base.
On Mountain Dining
The Gasthaus Wehrhalder Hof is just a few metres from the ski slope and invites you to take a break. There, winter sports enthusiasts can warm up and fortify themselves with regional dishes.
Activities
- A total of 20 kilometres of winter hiking trails invite you to explore the region.
- Seven cross-country trails with different degrees of difficulty are available to winter sports enthusiasts in the Herrischried Hotzenwald cross-country skiing area. The ski club Hotzenwald offers cross-country skiing courses.
- In the Herrischrieder ice rink you can swing your skates to the ice disco on Saturdays. Ice hockey games are also possible on a separate area.
Getting here
The Wehrhalden ski lift is located south of Freiburg. It can be reached by car in about 1 hour at ½ . Take the B31 to Titisee and change there to the B500, which you follow via Bärental, Neuglashütten and Altglashütten to the northern shore of Schluchsee. Continue on the L146 to Todtmoos. From there the L151 leads to the Wehrhalden ski lift.
The nearest train station is in Basel. From there buses run via Bad Säckingen to Wehrhalden.
