The Ski Resort
The family ski resort St. Jakob im Walde is ideal for beginners and children. But thanks to the 3 kilometres of red marked slopes, advanced skiers also feel at home here. The ski area is located in Eastern Styria and has a total of 4 kilometres of slopes. The first steps on skis can be taken at the cable and platter lift in the valley area. If you are already a bit safer on skis, you can take the Leit'n lift to the start of the training course. From the top station of the Ochsenkopf lift a blue or red marked slope leads back down to the valley. A highlight is the drive-through toilet next to the cable lift. There you can "take a break" without taking off your skis.
Interesting facts
- The vertical drop from summit to base is 200 m. The average difference in altitude between base and summit of Ski Resorts in Austria is 720 m. Runs and slopes are therefore relatively short. The ski resort takes you to an elevation of 1,200 m.
- Average snow depth during the season is 46 cm at summit elevation and 32 cm at base elevation. Snow coverage is usually best during January, offering an average snow depth of 49 cm at summit elevation and 36 cm at the base.
- St Jakob im Walde features 32 sunny days on average per season. The average for all ski Resorts in Austria is 37 sunny days. January is the sunniest month with an average of 14 sunny days.
On Mountain Dining
Catering for winter sports enthusiasts is provided by the Hexenhütte and the self-service restaurant at the Landhotel Berger. Both are located in the valley area and offer international and regional dishes.
Nightskiing
Night skiing is possible every Tuesday and Friday from 19 to 21 o'clock.
