If you prefer to take off your skis in the afternoon and sample some of that quintessential Tyrolean après-ski, look no further than the base station of the Stubaier Gletscherbahn (Mutterberg valley station). The Alpensporthotel Mutterberg is located directly between the base station of the gondola and the car parks. This large umbrella bar is situated directly on the street, and you can’t miss it. If you’d prefer to soak up some sunshine up on the glacier, the Bödelehütte is a good choice. Although the party up here isn’t quite as raucous as at the Alpensporthotel Mutterberg, the sun shines much longer into the afternoon here.
Night owls head for Neustift im Stubaital
Suffice to say, Stubai is not one of the Alps’ top après-ski hotspots. In fact, the only place to get a drink at the end of the valley is the aforementioned Alpensporthotel Mutterberg by the bottom of the lifts. The drive to Neustift takes approximately 20 minutes from the base station of the Gletscherbahn. In town, you can hit the “American Bar”, a pub modelled after the quintessential American sports bar, as well as the “Scala” disco which offers something for every taste.
