The Remarkables: one of the largest ski resorts on New Zealand`s South Island
Compared to ski resorts in Europe and North America the ski resorts in New Zealand are relatively small. With only three chair lifts, one tow lift and one magic carpet “The Remarkables” would be among the smaller ski resorts if located in Switzerland or Austria for instance. Compared to the less commercial ski resorts in the “Southern Alps”, “The Remarks” seem huge and due to the chairlift facilities very modern. However intermediate skiers will still miss nice intermediate level slopes (In New Zealand marked blue) as “The Remarks” features either very gentle terrain (at the base) or expert powder runs (in the “Shadow Basin”). Intermediate skiers looking for some nice groomed terrain that fits their ability level are better off at close by “Coronet Peak”.
