Difficult terrain frames the entire resort!
With its nine lift facilities Turoa is certainly not among the largest ski resort the world has to offer. However even the best among skiers will not miss out on fun and diversity in Turoa.. The very challenging sub areas “Organ Pipes”, “Weather Station Rocks”, “Amphitheatre” and “South-East Basin” close about Turoa’s gentle terrain. And when the notorious “Southern Storms” roll in over Mt Ruapehu, the mountain is transformed into a true powder paradise. Freeriders can then indulge in deep snow to their heart’s content. The “Slider” (trail 24 ) that leads through a crevice and the super difficult “Black and White Chute” (trail 37) is the nicest terrain for expert skiers we think. Unfortunately a permanent racing track is missing, that’s why Turoa awarded with 4,5 stars narrowly misses the highest score of 5 stars.
