The Ski Resort
The Valgrande Pajares ski resort is one of the oldest ski resorts in Spain. Around the summit of the Cueto Negro in the Asturias region, there are 21.5 kilometres of slopes of all levels of difficulty. The winter sports area is ideally suited for beginners, but also advanced and professional skiers will find suitable slopes here.
Half of the 32 slopes are marked green (very easy) or blue and therefore ideal for newcomers to alpine winter sports. Those who want to practice their first turns in Valgrande Pajares can do so in the valley area, which has several easy slopes. An alternative would be to take the chairlift "Cuito Negro" up to the summit and explore three more green-marked slopes, which also score with a magnificent view. If you don't want to take your first steps on your own, you can get help from the local ski school.
Advanced skiers and snowboarders can waggle down the twelve red-marked slopes, all of which start in the summit area. Experienced skiers can choose from four black-marked runs. While "La Comisa" promises great views as well as some steep passages, the "El Robezu" run even leads down to the valley.
The snow park, which can be reached via the two chairlifts "Hoya de Cueto Negro" and "Cuito Negro", is located in the upper part of the ski area. It is divided into a beginner (Easy Park) and an advanced area (Nitro Park) and offers a variety of rails, boxes, kickers and even some jumps. The difficulty levels of the elements are marked by different colors, so that everyone can find the right obstacles for their moves.
