The Ski Resort
The small ski area Oberfrauenwald in Waldkirchen in the Bavarian Forest has a total of two kilometres of slopes. The slopes are exclusively marked red and are suitable for beginners and slightly advanced skiers.
Winter sports enthusiasts have a 1,400 m long T-bar lift at their disposal in the ski area. For small skiers there is also a children's lift near Geiersberg with a length of 250 metres and a baby lift at the valley station with a length of 60 metres. Here, the little ones can discover the fun of winter sports undisturbed and master their first turns before heading out onto larger slopes. The children's lift and the baby lift are operated privately and cannot be used with the ski pass for the Oberfrauenwald ski lift.
The mountain station is located at an altitude of 948 meters. There is also a 27-metre-high observation tower from which you have a unique panoramic view of the region.
For snowboarders and freestylers there is a fun park in Waldkirchen on the upper steep slope. The park is about 400 metres long and has two routes with a steep downhill run and a route with a ski jump and three to five metre deep ditches.

- The vertical drop from summit to base is 275 m. The average difference in altitude between base and summit of Ski Resorts in Germany is 214 m. The highest point of the track is 950 m above sea level.
- Average snow depth during the season is 50 cm at summit elevation and 15 cm at base elevation. Snow coverage is usually best during January, offering an average snow depth of 59 cm at summit elevation and 15 cm at the base.
- Oberfrauenwald features 16 sunny days on average per season. The average for all ski Resorts in Germany is 14 sunny days. January is the sunniest month with an average of 8 sunny days.

Activities
A toboggan run also awaits you in Waldkirchen. The fast-paced winter fun is located at the Dickenbüchl valley station.
Cross-country skiers will find around 35 kilometres of prepared tracks through the idyllic winter forest around Waldkirchen. The kilometres of cross-country trails are divided into a total of five tracks. The longest of them is the red marked Schauerbachloipe with a length of 15 kilometres. It leads across meadows and valleys and about 20 percent through the forest.
In the Karoli Ice Sports Hall as well as at the frozen Erlauzwiesel Reservoir there is the possibility of ice skating and curling.

By car
Waldkirchen can be reached via the A3 Passau-Deggendorf. Leave the motorway at the Aicha vorm Wald exit and take the B12 in the direction of Freyung. At Deching turn off in the direction of Waldkirchen.
Coming from the Czech Republic, drive over the border crossing in Philippsreut and then on the B12 to Freyung. There you have to turn in the direction of Waldkirchen.
By public transport
If you want to arrive by train, leave the train at Passau main station. From there, buses run to Waldkirchen.
