The ski area Werfenweg in the Salzburger Land is only 45 km away from Salzburg and offers winter fun for action freaks as well as for families. In Werfenweng, special attention is also paid to sustainability, which is why everything here is under the theme "Soft Mobility". If you arrive by public transport without a car, you can use the free shuttles and many other offers. A winter holiday in Werfenweng means leaving everyday life behind and enjoying nature.

Werfenweng offers 27 kilometres of slopes and is located at an altitude between 1,000 and 1,830 metres. The ski area is especially popular for families. At the Zaglauliften near the valley, young skiers can take their first turns with the help of the local ski schools and Bobo the Penguin. New is the Kids Snowpark at the 8-seater cable car Ikarus.

Who already stands safely on the boards floats with the Ikarus Railway up to the summit. The long panoramic descent (no. 1) and descent no. 2, which leads to the rest of the ski area, are very attractive. Here you should definitely try the Eiskogelblick carving track and the training track.

On Mountain Dining

There are nine mountain restaurants in the ski area. High up on Bischlingshöhe stands the restaurant of the same name, which offers a unique panoramic view of the Salzburg mountains. Even if you only want to stop for a short break, this is the right place for you, because there is not only tasty food here, but also an umbrella bar.

The Sportalm Strußing spoils its guests with regional delicacies. Here you can also rent a room and then start your skiing day in the middle of the skiing area. In the valley area there are also several places to stop for refreshments, such as the Barbarahof, the Restaurant Straßreith or the Restaurant Tennenblick.

Must-Ski Runs

The Panorama descent (No. 1) is a special experience in Werfenweng. For sporty skiers there is also a real challenge with a black marked section. Drivers who are not yet so experienced do not have to be afraid, the heavy section can also be bypassed.

Werfenweng has a lot to offer off the slopes. It is for example known as Paraglider Eldorado. The paragliders start directly at the terrace of the restaurant Bischlingshöhe. If you want to ascend to airy heights yourself, you can book a tandem flight with one of the local providers.

The 6 km long toboggan run offers special fun for families. The start is at the Strussingalm, which can be easily reached with the Ikarus Railway and the Strussing Lift. There is also an illuminated toboggan run, the Köpfl-Flitzer, which is about 1.5 km long. The steep curves make the rapid ride a unique experience!

Especially when snowshoeing and during the horse-drawn sleigh rides you can enjoy the magic of the snow-covered winter landscape. Also winter hikes are ideal to leave the stressful everyday life behind and simply enjoy nature. From leisurely walks, such as the hike to the Zistelbergerhof, to more demanding tours for active sports enthusiasts, everything is on offer.

A lovely small village. Not a lot of km, but it is a nice place to skie. The Bischling-slope is absolutely fabulous!
We stayed at Gasthof Sonneck, an cosy small hotel. It was great.

SUPER! Be attented of the ski area! Not really for families with little children! The "liftboys" smoling and joking about families!

Super!
