Especially for winter sports enthusiasts from the Ruhr area or the Düsseldorf, Cologne and Aachen regions, a trip to the Belgian province of Liège, where several small ski resorts are located, can be worthwhile.

One of the best known ski resorts is Ovifat with a total of three slopes for beginners and slightly advanced skiers as well as a toboggan run. The small but fine ski areas Val de Wanne and Mont des Brumes - Franchorchamps - La Gleize are also suitable for beginners.

The small ski resorts in Belgium are only equipped with T-bar lifts. But that's enough for learning to ski or for the first swings before your winter holiday in the Alps.
