K2 Sports Company is an American sports goods manufacturer founded in 1961 on Vashon Island near Seattle. Today, the company is one of the market leaders when it comes to design, production and marketing. K2 was also a pioneer in the manufacture of fiberglass skis. These differ from the otherwise conventional wood and metal skis due to their light weight and higher load capacity.
