Völkl Blaze 114 (Powder Ski 2024/2025)

Product Summary

The Völkl Blaze 114's full retail price is €850. The Ski costs roughly €180 more than the average price of all Powder Skis, making it a real premium Ski. The ski is very smooth and forgiving. It's the perfect tool for intermediate skiers. The Blaze 114 is a pure freeride ski. Riding on groomers is no problem but due to its fairly wide waist the ski has a strong bias towards powder runs. The ski is available from 166 to 192cm. The ski is very agile and performs well in all sizes of turn radius - both long and short. The radius ranges from 15 m to 20 m (depending on the length of the ski).

The ski in details

Sustainable freeride adventure at it's best

To cut to the chase: The Blaze 114 is as wide as its range of use. In addition, it is also produced in an environmentally friendly way. Völkl uses a recycled base and only FSC-certified wood in combination with the Green Core technology. The Isocore inside the wood core is made of recycled PET bottles instead of the conventional PU foam. When it comes to riding performance, the Blaze 114 is destined for off-piste adventures. Thanks to its efficient weight-performance ratio, it is also quite suitable as a freeride touring ski. But it really comes to life on the downhill. The rather narrow 18 m radius in relation to a ski length of 192 cm delivers a maneuverability previously unknown in this category. This is additionally supported by an open radius both at the shovel and at the tail combined with tip & tail rocker. To enable smooth running at high speeds, a 0.3 mm thin titanal sheet was added to the 3D Radius Sidecut in the center of the ski right above the sidewall. Thus, the ski can be controlled with great precision - you will notice this in every turn initiation. By the way, these riding characteristics also work really well on the occasional on-slope rides too! To keep the all-mountain ski as agile as possible, no titanal is used in the outer areas front and rear. The Blaze is designed with increasing flex in relation to the length of the ski, so that larger or heavier riders benefit from the same driving characteristics as the smaller or lighter riders with shorter ski lengths.

Technologies

Tip & Tail Rocker
Character: Bends up only in the shovel and tail zones, with a camber shape in the middle

Titanal Binding Platform
A thin Titanal layer (0,3 mm) under the binding delivers the necessary strength to the ski. This way the binding screws offer reliable hold even in the toughest conditions.

Full Sidewall
Direct and strong powertransmission with full length sidewalls.

Suspension Tips & Tails
Inserts made of elastic TPU material on the edges of the tip and tail which act like a bumper in wind-blown or tracked snow. Its shock-absorbing elasticity ensures better stability and catch-free float.

3D Radius Sidecut
Three radii in one ski for maximum turning & speed versatility in All Mountain skiing long Tip & Tail radius. Usage of long radii at tip and tail for big turns and high speed.

Base P-Tex 2100
A sintered high-density and high molecular polyethylene base with great gliding characteristics and high durability.

Green Core

  • All GreenCore woods are FSC certified
  • Environmentally friendly glue
  • Foam: recycled PET

Multilayer Woodcore 1
The side wall is laminated to extremely stable layers of wood on the sides of the sandwich core.
