Völkl Rise Above 88 W (Backcountry Touring Ski 2024/2025)

Product Summary

The Völkl Rise Above 88 W is the perfect tool during both downhill rides and steep ascents. Thanks to its low weight, the ski is easy to master even on longer trips. The Völkl Rise Above 88 W's full retail price is €650. The Ski costs roughly €30 more than the average price of all Backcountry Touring Skis, making it an upper mid-range model. Effortless to ride at all speeds, this ski is just right for all intermediate skiers. The Rise Above 88 W is a more off-piste oriented ski which rides great in deep powder. Thanks to its versatility however, it is also fun on groomers from time to time. Available lengths for the ski are ranging between 149 and 170cm.

The ski in details

The first choice for demanding alpinists in high altitude terrain

The Rise Above 88 with a 3D radius sidecut is the most versatile ski in our new touring range. It performs impressively on ascents and descents. A multi-layer wood core provides an impressive combination of minimal weight (1,186 g at 170 cm), stability and smoothness. The 3D radius sidecut has a very resilient tip, which is especially useful when skiing in wind-blown snow conditions. The sidecut geometry is agile and manoeuvrable in narrow passages, while the full sidewall offers great stability and resilience. The combination of a narrower waist under the boot and moderate shaping in the tip and tail areas helps skiers remain in control and requires less effort, including on ski tours with a heavy backpack. The Rise Above 88 also comes with Völkl’s Smart Skin Clip system, which is compatible with both Fibre Tech and Smart Glue skins.

Technologies

3D Radius Sidecut

Full Sidewall
Direct and strong powertransmission with full length sidewalls.

Multilayer Woodcore 1
The side wall is laminated to extremely stable layers of wood on the sides of the sandwich core.

Smart Skinclip
The newly developed Smart Skinclip system allows the ski tourer to decide for himself, depending on the situation, in which direction he should pull the skin on and off.

Special PU construction with a wooden core in the ski body.
