LEVEL Thermoplus: How to find the right ski gloves for your needs

When it comes to skiing or snowboarding, keeping your hands warm is essential for enjoying your experience on the slopes. But gloves also fulfil other functions such as keeping your hands dry and protected from the elements, while also allowing you to grip your ski poles right to perform your best. But with so many options on the market, how do you choose the right model for your needs? That's where LEVEL and their Thermoplus technology for varying warmth levels comes into play.

When it comes to choosing the right ski gloves for your needs, there are a few factors to consider:

  • Warmth: Level gloves are designed to provide exceptional warmth, even in the coldest temperatures. Consider how warm you need your gloves to be based on the climate in which you'll be skiing.
  • Waterproofing: Keeping your hands dry is essential for comfort and warmth on the slopes. Look for gloves with waterproofing materials and membranes.
  • Fit: A good fit ensures that your gloves stay on during all kinds of manoeuvres. LEVEL models are designed with a variety of fits and closures to suit different needs.
  • Durability: Ski gloves have to withstand harsh conditions, so it's important to choose a pair that is durable and abrasion-resistant. LEVEL gloves are made with high-quality leather and other durable materials to ensure longevity.
  • Style: While performance is the most important factor, many skiers also want gloves that look good and reflect their personal style. LEVEL's range comes in a variety of colors and styles to suit every taste – from mittens to 5-finger-gloves.

Paying attention to all these factors has made the Italian brand LEVEL one of the leaders in the industry for over 30 years. Their gloves are designed with the skier and snowboarder in mind, incorporating advanced technology and high-quality materials to provide the best possible performance and protection on the mountain.

At the same time, the company pushes toward more sustainability. “Green Choice” gloves, for example, are made out of at least 50 percent recycled or organic materials!

Warmth tends to be subjective. Where one skier might sweat in one pair of gloves, another might find the same model not warm enough. This is why LEVEL has developed the Thermoplus Technology.

Thermoplus divides the gloves into five different categories:

  • Thermoplus 1000: Light insulation for temperatures down to -5°C
  • Thermoplus 2000: Standard insulation for temperatures down to -10°C
  • Thermoplus 3000: Warm insulation for temperatures down to -17°C
  • Thermoplus 4000: Very warm insulation for temperatures down to -22°C
  • Thermoplus 5000: Extra warm insulation for temperatures down to -30°C

On warm to moderate days on the slopes, you’d go for a lighter Thermoplus 1000 glove like the Ski Alper Light. If your hands tend to get cold fast, even on sunny snow days, a Thermoplus 2000 glove like the Shaman would be your ideal companion. For controlled warmth without overheating, a warm Thermoplus 3000 glove such as Jolie would be the best choice for you. On particularly cold days, Thermoplus 4000 models like Off Piste Leather will keep you cozy on the slopes. And finally, Thermoplus 5000 gloves such as Alaska are made for extremely harsh weather conditions when conquering the slopes in high altitudes.

The various levels are achieved through special material selection both for the outside and the inside of the gloves. More layers and warmer materials lead to higher Thermoplus levels, while continuously offering the same degrees of comfort and breathability.

LEVEL’s Thermoplus technology has been scientifically tested under the auspices of the DICAM Department of Bologna University in Italy to prove both the performance and effect.
