Schladming is kicking off the winter again this year with a big concert event. It has now been confirmed who will be opening the 2023/2024 ski season: Robbie Williams! For this announcement, the superstar himself has traveled to Styria - naturally in a helicopter. Fans can look forward to no less than two performances by him in December 2023. Find out when the concerts will take place and how you can get tickets.
"More spectacular than ever before"
The Opening Concert in Schladming is one of the biggest events to kick off the ski season in Austria. It has hosted top international acts such as Die Toten Hosen, Lost Frequencies and Dimitri Vegas.
After a three-year break, the legendary Ski Opening returns to Schladming this winter with a genuine world star. On stage at the Planai Stadium will be none other than Robbie Williams. He will give two concerts, on December 7 and 8, 2023.
"This year's star guest will take the event to a whole new level and make it even more spectacular than ever before," says a delighted Christopher Drexler, Landeshauptmann (Governor) of Styria. The guests can look forward to a spectacular show. Several hundred square meters of LED walls and an abundance of lasers and pyrotechnics will make sure of that.
By helicopter to the Reiteralm
A small pre-taste already offered the announcement of the event. For the press conference on July 23 on the Reiteralm, the superstar was flown in specially from Klagenfurt by helicopter. Those responsible for the 4-mountain ski area with the mountains Planai, Hauser Kaibling, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm were also on hand to welcome the British guest of honor. As a welcome gift - in preparation for the Ski Opening - he was presented with a pair of alpine skis.
Robbie Williams became famous in the early 90s as a member of the boy band Take That. After parting ways with the band, he launched his solo career in the mid-90s and became a world star with hits such as "Let me entertain you," "Angels," "Feel" and "Candy."
On the occasion of his 25th stage anniversary as a solo artist, he has been on a world tour for a year with his new album "XXV" and many of his greatest hits. He will end his tour in Australia in the winter of 2023. After that, he wants to take a few days off in Austria and then give the two additional concerts in Schladming. "My job is to entertain you and I take that job very seriously," he promised on Sunday with a smirk.
