Speed Dating on a Chairlift: A Skiing Experience for Singles

Sometimes the adventure of love begins where you least expect it – high up in the Tyrolean Alps. In St. Johann/Tyrol, there is a special event every Friday between 10 January and 14 February: speed dating on the chairlift! This is where winter sports fans can enjoy a charming mix of romance and adventure. In this article, we'll tell you exactly what it's all about.

The concept at the ski resort in St. Johann is simple: wear heart sticker to show you’re participating, take a seat on a two-person chairlift, and let some creative "icebreaker" questions spark the conversation. Even the shyest participants will feel at ease thanks to the relaxed atmosphere and the brief nature of the chats.

The event will take place every Friday from January 10 through Valentine's Day, February 14. Pre-registration is not required. The first meeting point is always at 10 am at the Jodlalm lift, and then it continues every hour. During the twelve-minute ride up the mountain, you'll get to know your seat mate - plenty of time to strike up a conversation and see if there's a chemistry.

Afterward, you can enjoy skiing together or stop at one of the rustic alpin huts to finish off the day with Tyrolean specialties. Even if it doesn't work out, the event is the perfect opportunity to make new acquaintances.

The special price for the day ski pass during this period is only 49 Euros for adults (regular price 59 Euros), an unbeatable offer for an experience you don't want to miss.

St. Johann in Tirol, nestled between the Kitzbüheler Horn and the Wilder Kaiser, is an insider tip for winter sports enthusiasts. 40 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes await you, suitable for beginners and advanced skiers alike.

Family friendly and clearly laid out, the ski area offers a winter sports experience in a charming alpine region. Modern lifts keep everything running smoothly, and snow is guaranteed from December to April.

A special highlight for those looking for a challenge is the former FIS course with its impressive steepness. Its northwest orientation keeps it hard and grippy even in warmer conditions.

If speed dating on a chairlift is too windy for you or your dream partner is still waiting, St. Johann/Tyrol has another romantic option for you: the gondola dinner. On two evenings, February 27 and March 13, an unforgettable culinary experience awaits you at the Eichenhof lifts.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with appetizers and a flying buffet at the base station. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., each gondola stop features a new course from a five-course gourmet menu paired with fine wines. After three gondola rides, guests can enjoy a cheese buffet and digestif to round out the evening.

Important: The gondolas are not heated, but blankets and furs will keep you warm. The gondola dinner costs 179 euros per person, including menu, drinks, aperitif and digestif. An exclusive gondola for two is available for an additional 50 euros. Space is limited, so be sure to book early!
