The Bavarian ski resorts have everything you need just a short drive away. From small family resorts to huge ski centers and backcountry terrain for freeriders, you will find everything you desire. Bavaria even offers a glacier ski resort. It is located at Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze that peaks at 2,962 meters (9,717 ft). Equally popular is the Tegernsee-Schliersee area, especially Sudelfeld and Spitzingsee are on the larger side and well-known.
Several little ski resorts are suitable for families with younger children. Real experts will appreciate Wendelstein, known for being one of the hotspots for freeriders. Skiing in the Berchtesgardener Land is a blast since well-groomed trails and dreamy panorama views are abundant. Ski stars like Hilde Gerg or Kathrin Hölzl trained for competitions right here at Jenner, Roßfeld and other mountains.
Cross-country skiers enjoy the vast track network. Highlights are Ruhpolding and Reit im Winkl located in the Chiemgau region, as well as the region around the Tölzer Land.
