The eastern part of Switzerland encloses several cantons, including St. Gallen, Thurgau, Glarus and both of the Appenzeller cantons, Inner Rhodes and Outer Rhodes. With the location right between the Lake Constance and the Alpine foothills it is a region offering many different vacation experiences and a great variety. In winter Pizol with its five-lake-tour is one of the most popular destinations. First class skiing is also available at Flumserberg, at Toggenburg or at the ski resort Elm.
In addition there are some smaller skiing regions more suited for families. The magical landscape invites you to do winter hikes and snow shoe tours. For relaxing definitely visit the thermal bath in Bad Ragaz. Main arterial roads are the highways A1 and A13.
