The Cross-Country Area
The Abondance cross-country skiing area is part of the "Abondance, La Chapelle d'Abondance and Châtel" cross-country skiing area, which comprises a network of more than 30 kilometres.
In the French winter sports resort of Abondance, cross-country skiing fans have a total of three cross-country trails at their disposal with a total length of 13 kilometres. The Richebourg cross-country trail runs from Le Pré campsite in the centre of Abondance along the Dranse river to La Chapelle d'Abondance. The route is 5 kilometres long and is also used by pedestrians and snowshoe hikers. The Lac des Plagnes cross-country ski run is about 12 minutes' drive from the village centre. The circular trail leads around the idyllic lake Plagnes and can be used free of charge. Another circuit is located in the Domaine l'Essert south of Abondance. The track called Chalet de Brions is three kilometres long and can also be used free of charge.

- The high point of the cross-Country skiing area is located at an elevation of 929 m.
- Snow coverage is usually best during February, offering an average snow depth of 123 cm at summit elevation and 38 cm at the base.
Getting Here
By car:
From Geneva, winter sports enthusiasts can reach the French town of Abondance by taking the Quai Cologny road and the Route de Thonon, then the D1005 to Thonon-les-Bains, where they take the D21 to Vinzier. Then take the D32 to Acre and finally the D22 to Abondance.
