The Cross-Country Area
To the north of Flossenbürg in the Upper Palatinate Forest lies the cross-country skiing centre Silberhütte. Here about 50 km of classically groomed cross-country trails and 9 km of skating trails await motivated cross-country skiers. The easy to medium tours run at the foot of the Entenbühl at an altitude between 750 and 900 m and partly cross the border into the Czech Republic.
The cross-country skiing centre is equipped with snow-making equipment and floodlights, so that Tuesday to Thursday evening skiing is possible from 6 pm to 8 pm. In addition, there is a ski rental, changing rooms and washrooms as well as a year-round biathlon facility with eight shooting ranges where you can practice shooting both lying and standing. The Silberhütte shelter invites you to take a break. In addition, the Goldbach hut in the Czech town of Zlatý potok is open on Sundays.

- The highest point of the track is 900 m above sea level.
- Snow coverage is usually best during February, offering an average snow depth of 23 cm at summit elevation and 0 cm at the base.
Getting Here
The cross-country skiing centre Silberhütte is located about 10 kilometres south of Bärnau. If you are coming from the south, stay on the A6 until the exit Vohenstrauß-West and then drive via Floß and Flossenbürg to the Silberhütte. Coming from the north you take the A93 to Mitterteich-Süd, via the B299 you get to the B15. After Tirschenreuth turn left to Liebenstein and Iglersreuth. In Hohenthan, take the Silberhüttenstraße and follow the road to the Silberhütte. Parking is available on site.
From Weiden railway station there is also a bus line 6272 to the Silberhütte.
