The Cross-Country Area
Three cross-country tracks with a total of 12km/7.5mi await you at Passo Stelvio, the unique pure summer ski resort in the Alps. The mountain pass is located at the border between Lombardy and Trentino/South Tyrol. The pass road is impassable during the winter because of the immense snow masses. It can only be cleared in May, which is why the cross-country season goes from late May to early November.
Two tracks (no. 10 Livrio and no. 11 Agonistica Cristallo) are located amidst the glacier ski resort, and operate fee-based, the third is right at the pass road (no. 13 Passo Stelvio), and is only groomed in sufficient snow. To get up the mountain, grab the regular ski lifts.
The cross-country tracks at Passo Stelvio are among the highest in Europe. Even the one in the 'valley' is situated at around 2,750m/9,022ft above sea level. The two circular trails are as high as 3,400m/11,155ft.
