Lots of powder and hardly any groomed trails!
The Krippenstein (2100m) is picturesquily located with the spectacular Dachstein Massiv in the background. A view that will take your breath away! Where the groomed terrain is concerned however skilled skiers have little to no options at all. There is only one 11km intermediate trail leading down into the valley. The first section is of easy level and from the Gjaidalm on of intermediate level. Experienced skiers in Krippenstein should really exchange their normal skis for a pair of fat skis (there is a ski rental right by the base in the valley) and plunge into the sheer endless, powdery, wild terrain of Krippenstein. Before venturing down pristine slopes however make sure you obtain essential information in the valley on the current avalanche situation. It goes without saying that the standard avalanche safety gear (including shovel, probe, tracker) is stowed away neatly in the backpack (WHICH YOU ARE WEARING) It is recommendable to take a guide as the region can be mined with invisible dolines and crevices.
