The worlds largest ski resort offers a lot also for kids!
Naturally families should ask themselves if it is advisable to visit the largest ski resort in the world with kids. The age and especially the kids’ capabilities should be considered. Most importantly: either have the children taken care of by professionals (at every base there are offices of the French ski school “École du ski Francais” or never ever loose sight of them! The array of slopes and lift facilities in Trois Valées truly cater to families. In Val Thorens a magic carpet for the kiddies can be found. The trails descending to Courcheval are predominantly of easy level and should please both parents and children. Nearly all slopes are accessible by chair lifts or gondola therefore kids are spared the ordeal of having to use the tow lift facilities (which are difficult in France). What we really enjoyed in all French ski resorts were the beginners’ areas (“Zones Débutants”) at nearly all bases. In these “zones” all winter athletes must ski or ride attentively and slowly. (This idea would be worth copying in the German and Austrian ski resorts!) We advise families to spend their holiday in Courchevel as this sub area offers the most recommendable trails for families.
