Whether you are a seasoned skier, a fan of freestyle or freeride skiing, or just venturing onto nursery slopes with the kids, Sun Peaks caters for every ability level. However, tons of activities for kids, a local ski school, generous wide green and blue slopes, and convenient skiing into the village make Sun Peaks Resort extremely popular among families with children.
Although Sun Peaks cannot really keep up with Revelstoke or Kicking Horse, Crystal Bowl is great for freeride skiing. That is because Sun Peaks does not feature enough terrain above tree line to be able to offer a huge freeride area. The Rockstar Terrain Park below Sundance Express leaves you with a ton of choices between jumps, rails, and boxes. The terrain park does not only make your heart beat faster, it has also won several awards already.
However, as in many Canadian ski resorts, the outdated lifts cannot keep up with the standards in the Alps, as they are neither heated nor do they feature weather protection covers. Moreover, the ski resort's après-ski and mountain hut options do not in the slightest reflect the quality of the ski resort itself; still, there are some great resort dining options which are not to be missed.
Verdict is in: We can recommend the ski area to anyone who really is into slope fun. Our “must-ski“ are The Sticks and C. C. Riders, which are great fun for younger and older skiers alike.
