IBU World Cup Biathlon 2019/2020: Schedule and Venues

Head-to-head races on the tracks, and breath-holding suspense at the shooting range: biathlon is one of the most exciting winter sports. The World Cup athletes are looking at more than 60 races in the 2019/2020 season - this time held exclusively in Europe. The starting gun is fired in Swedish Östersund in late November. In December, the athletes stop in Hochfilzen in Tyrol as well as Le Grand Bornand in France. During the World Cup break between Christmas and the New Year, some athletes use the popular mixed event, that takes place at football club Schalke 04's stadium every year, to get in some more practice.

Oberhof and Ruhpolding, the two German venues, are next on the agenda in January. Then, after a quick stop in Pokjuka, February is to see the highlight of the season: the Biathlon World Championships in Antholz, Italy. Over the course of twelve races, the athletes will fight for gold, silver and bronze. The 2019/2020 season comes to its end with three more World Cup races in March, held in Nové Město, Kontiolahti, and Oslo.
