Europe is the continent with the greatest winter sports opportunities in the world. Above all, its diversity brings many tourists from all over the world to Europe's ski resorts.
The most important ski regions are, of course, in the Alps. Austria has been the number one winter sports country for many years, but the traditional ski resorts in Switzerland such as St. Moritz, Davos, Zermatt and Gstaad are also world-famous. The Alps are also home to the largest ski resorts in the world. Ski resorts such as Les Portes du Soleil and Les Trois Vallées in France or Via Lattea in Italy cannot be compared to anything else.
In the Pyrenees in Spain, Andorra and France or also in Scandinavia there are wonderful winter sports possibilities. The areas in Eastern Europe, such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, are also becoming increasingly popular.
But the smaller mountains near the big cities and conurbations, such as the Sauerland and the Black Forest in Germany or the Abruzzi in Italy, are also particularly important.
