Verbier-Tzoumaz: One of the best snowboarding resorts in the Alps!
Verbier has managed to earn itself a respectable reputation among freeriders and snowboarders in the last few years. And it certainly lives up to it. Forty-five kilometers of avalanche-safe ski routes for freeriders and boarders are available here, and as if that weren't enough, a good snowfall will leave the area with numerous off-piste possibilites. If you're new to snowboarding, you should practice in the Baby-Bar on Les Esserts lifts (details under the „Beginners“ category). A small terrain park with kickers and rails can be found at La Chaux (2260m). In comparison to other terrain parks (Laax/Graubünden, for example), we were slightly disappointed in this one, especially when we found it to be lacking a halfpipe. Despite that, and thanks to its many powder slopes and ski routes, Verbier-Tzoumaz received a practically perfect score of 4.5 stars in the Snowboarders' category.
