Right next to the base station of the Ankogelbahn I cable car, beginners will find a few nice bunny slopes to try out their ski legs on. Kofel lifts I and II take beginners up the easy trails 8 and 9, where they can practice before heading to the cable cars and attempting the rest of the trails in the area. We recommend that only more practiced skiers and boarders try their hands at the upper part of the resort. Though there is one blue trail up there (no.3), you’ll have to take either a red or a black to get to it. The intermediate station of the Ankogelbahn (1945m) can also only be reached by taking a red trail (no.1). Slightly more practiced beginners shouldn’t have any problems with the intermediate slopes up there, but the Ankogel-Talabfahrt (no.2) is the most challenging trail in the entire resort, so less-experienced skiers and boarders should really consider taking the gondola back to the base from the mid-way station.
