Big White is popular with beginners, who are free to ski from summit to base on green runs. So anyone who wants a good chance of skiing powder on reasonably easy slopes should put Big White high on the shortlist. The ski resort is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and its wide array of doable terrain. Speaking of doable: There's a green run out of every lift, plus there are endless intersecting blue runs, which total 18% beginner runs and 54% intermediate runs.
Kids Centre and Learning Area
The learning area at Big White is a great spot for newbies of all ages. Featuring wide open runs, it is perfect terrain to improve your skills or building confidence on the slopes. Next to the learning area, there is also the Kids' Centre and ski school, which is a fun, age appropriate environment, offering lessons and programs from first-timers to all-mountain rippers. It is located right in the heart of the Village with plenty of parking lots close-by, making for both excellent and easy-peasy access.
The fact that the learning area is located off the beaten track in regard to the rest of the ski resort can totally be seen as an advantage, as beginners stay focused on skiing. Within the learning area are plenty of magic carpets to get up the mountain; there is a gondola connecting the kids' and beginner area with the main part of the ski resort.
Verdict is in: Big White definitely tops the list of your go-tos for beginner skiing. We highly recommend heading to the slopes served by Black Forest Express, where you can choose from a large number of easy and intermediate runs, all leading down into the village centre – a great gathering place!
