Great practice slopes for beginners
Looking at the trail map, with its scarce population of blue trails, beginners might not expect to get much out of their experience here. But since even the red trails at Gerlitzen happen to be beginner-friendly, the resort received a very respectable score in this category. True alpine rookies will find the best practice slopes up above the upper terminal of the Kanzelbahn lift. The Sonnenlift practice slope (no.15) and the Moser-Abfahrt trail (no.2a) are a couple of risk-free, easy-terrain options for beginners. There are also practice lifts at the base in Klosterle (1000m) and in the Lodron beginners’ area (no.14). To get to the longest blue trail in the ski area, you’ll need to take the Gipfelbahn quad (B) up to the highest point at the resort at 1911 meters above sea-level. From there, you can cover over two full kilometers on the easy trail Neugarten (no.5) before your next ride on the 8-seater carving jet. Once you’ve gotten some practice in and you start to feel more comfortable and controlled on your skis, you shouldn’t have a problem taking on the red trails in the ski area, most of which are very generously-spaced.
