Overall there are 11 lodges and restaurants spread across the First area, and 20 mountain restaurants around Kleine Scheidegg and Männlichen. That is more than enough in both cases. There is just about always somewhere to eat and drink next to every major lift.
Restaurant Eigergletscher: High cuisine at 2320m
The Restaurant Eigergletscher is situated directly next to the mountain station of the Eigernordwand chairlift. What makes this restaurant so special is undoubtedly its sun deck offering views of the Eiger Glacier so monumental, it feels almost close enough to touch.
A tip for sun-worshippers: Restaurant Brandegg on the valley run (no. 22)
We were particularly impressed by Restaurant Brandegg next to the valley run back down to Grindelwald. The lodge is protected from the wind and close to the valley – the perfect recipe for whiling away some time on the sun deck. The prices here are also a little more affordable. You can look forward to local specialities like Swiss rösti, cheese and various meat and salad dishes.
Restaurant Bort or Schreckfeld: Mountain delights in the First area
If you are out and about in Grindelwald First, we can warmly recommend the restaurants Bort and Schreckfeld. Both offer breath-taking sun decks with unobstructed vistas of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The kitchen set-up alone makes Schreckfeld worth a visit: The cooks work directly on the terrace in the snow, allowing guests to watch them in action as they prepare the food.
