More than 65% of the runs in Kleine-Scheidegg Männlichen are covered by snowmaking

The snowmaking facilities have now reached a pretty good level in Grindelwald. Snowmaking is allowed in the Canton of Bern from 15 October onwards. The first snow cannons usually start their work at the end of October in the Kleine Scheidegg area, beginning on the Lauberhorn and around the Arvengarten. In 2015, the season started on 5 December in the Kleine Scheidegg area and on 12 December in First. The Kleine Scheidegg area also boasts a relatively long season through to mid-April. The First area usually wraps things up a couple of weeks earlier. With altitudes between 944m (Grindelwald Grund) and 2,500m (Oberjoch in First), the runs surrounding Grindelwald and Wengen certainly can’t claim to offer the consistent snow levels of other Swiss ski areas.
