Review Mayrhofen: Après-Ski

Mayrhofen is said to be a fun and energetic Zillertal ski resort enjoying a huge popularity among young skiers. In the centre there are numerous pubs and Après-Ski bars. Both the Brückenstadl as well as the Sports Lounge in the sports hotel Strass offer live music performances in the evening on a regular basis. The latter venue hosts events with DJs almost on a daily basis.
A day on the slopes can be quite tiring and make you feel hungry. A place offering decent meals is, for instance, the “Panoramaalm” located right at the “Hasenmulden” lift. Resting on the sun terrace for a while, one will come to experience a dreamlike view of the Ziller- and Tuxertal.
Another gem of the area is the “Schneekarhütte” on Horberg mountain on a height of 2,278m (7,474ft) . The mountain hut design in the shape of a pyramid, making it resistant against any kind of strong wind, is owed to the fact that the “Schneekarhütte” was once used as a protection hut for mountaineers. Nowadays, it is one of the most distinctive and most beautiful ski huts in Austria known for its exquisite regional cuisine. It also gives you the chance to stay overnight amidst the ski area. The “Kaiser Suite” (Emperor Suite)is the special highlight of the hut. Directly placed underneath the glassy top of the pyramid it allows a spectacular nocturnal view on the stars.
