Banff Sunshine is a huge hit with beginners, both children and adults, and is thus a perfect destination for powder newbies who are not on a budget. First-time skiers will appreciate the variety of a whopping 18 km of designated green runs the ski resort has to offer. Sunshine is home to an excellent ski school that is very good with ”never-evers“. The instructors take good care of getting all beginners to terrain that is 100% suitable for them. They provide top-notch instruction and even offer private lessons, which are worthwile to make use of.
Banff Sunshine features plenty of easy and doable slopes, which are wide-open and thus excellent for your very first curves. Moreover, there is a beginner area, which is a great place to start learning how to ski. We highly recommend Rock Isle Road and Meadow Park. Rock Isle Road will provide beginners with the freedom to get comfy making turns on varied terrain. Meadow Park is perfect to test your skills on even more varied terrain with a few trees to ski around.
Deducted Points
Due to Banff Sunshine's outdated, obsolete lift system, we had to deduct a couple of points. What's good is that there are no T-Bar lifts or rope tows. However, all other lifts – except for TeePee lift, which is Canada's first and only heated chairlift – are in need of improvement, especially when compared to European standards.
